Yahoo gives nod to DM2 gaming site
What would you say if I told you that, by using DM2, you could make a Web site complete and comprehensive enough to be directly approved by Yahoo? I’m not talking about a bot that rates a site by its keywords or domain names; I’m talking about a warm, flesh-and-blood human who says, “Hey, this DM2 site is rad!”
That’s exactly what happened recently when Yahoo, perhaps omitting the word “rad,” gave direct approval to teh1337sauze.com – an online gaming site built entirely through DM2. Full Entry

We’re not ones to throw teasers around lightly, but exciting changes are coming to DM2. Full Entry
The Shine of Good DesignHaving spent some time at the American Press Institute (API) in Virginia, I learned of a study that was conducted that studied how people read. Sounds boring, I know but if you give me a few seconds of your time I’ll tell you why it’s important from a design perspective – and how simple tricks will keep people from leaving your site. First-Person PerspectivesThe best way to engage readers is to share stories they can relate to. First-person stories allow you to discuss a wide variety of topics in ways that are compelling, emotional, humorous or otherwise entertaining. There’s a time and place for all kinds of copy, but some of my best sites were enhanced by my own personal experiences.

Writing Good CopyContent is king. It’s the golden rule of the Internet, and for good reason. People visit Web sites in search of information, and the only way to keep people from hitting the “back” buttons on their browsers is to generate solid, useful content. The better your content, the more likely visitors are to stay on your page and click on your links. Good copy is the backbone of good content.

Choosing a TemplateThe first step in making a Web site through DM2 is picking a design template. There are several options to choose from. How should you choose?
I had fewer templates to choose from when I started building DM2 sites. The templates I used most often were “Daily News,” “Iced Lightening” and “Dotized.” For some sites, I knew which templates I would use before my copy was finished. For other sites, I needed to decide on graphics and art before I could visualize which template would look best.

Colorful PossibilitiesA smart color scheme can be the difference between a good Web site and a great site. Picking a good color scheme isn’t always easy; in fact, this was regularly my greatest obstacle after moving from journalism to Web publishing. The good news is you don’t have to endure the same hardships I did when contemplating colors.

About the BloggersHello, our names are Scott and Justin. We're both lifelong writers who spent years working for daily newspapers. With our lives revolving around ink and paper, we never envisioned ourselves working in the online world of Web publishing. Then, along came DM2. Neither of us had ever built a Web site before the summer of 2008. Nor had we learned about Web traffic, designed ads or toyed around with graphic selection. Yet within days of being hired by Epicenter Network Inc., we were able to use DM2 to create basic, functional Web sites. The more we work with DM2, the more we realize the service’s potential, as well as our own. That’s why we started this blog. Here we’ll share tips and advice for building the best sites for your domains. Our goal is to cover a wide range of topics such as choosing color schemes, writing interesting copy and highlighting your ads. We want this blog to benefit new and veteran DM2 users. Any feedback is welcome. Welcome to DM2, where all you need is an eye for design or a touch of creativity. DM2 can do the rest.
